Visit the viewing platform in Potsdam

Opened in 2024, Potsdam’s newest observation platform is still a real insider tip and the perfect photo spot. From the Garrison Church, you have the best view of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Potsdam with its magnificent palaces and gardens and the historic city center.

Enjoy the beautiful view and plan your activities. An elevator or 365 steps will take you to 57 meters in height.

For us, “exhibiting” doesn’t just mean “putting something out.” At the Garrison Church, you can expect a critical examination of the history of the place in the context of German and European history. With unique objects on display, impressive images, meaningful documents, and multimedia stations for further exploration.

 

The “Faith, Power, and the Military” exhibition raises awareness of the threats to democracies, reflects on human actions, and encourages the shaping of a pluralistic society.

THE CROSS OF NAILS CHAPEL – SPIRITUAL LIFE IN THE GARRISON CHURCH

The Cross of Nails Chapel is the spiritual life center of the Garrison Church in Potsdam. Morning devotions, peace prayers, memorial services, and church services are held here regularly. You can find the dates in our calendar. The chapel is also open outside of services. We cordially invite you to visit the chapel, to reflect, to pray, or simply to linger.

 

Admission to the chapel is free.

The “Le Petit Café” right next to the tower of the Garrison Church offers you small French dishes and refreshing drinks in a cosy atmosphere. Enjoy quiche, croques, salads and the finest cakes with a view of the tower. Round off your visit to the Garrison Church in style – in the café or on the outdoor seating in front of the tower.

Most important questions about your visit.

The address is Breite Straße 7, 14467 Potsdam. You can travel comfortably from Berlin by regional train or S-Bahn. It’s a 10-minute walk from the main train station to the Garrison Church. The next tram and bus stop in Potsdam is the “Alter Markt/Landtag” stop.

The Garrison Church is located in the heart of Potsdam. Many sights on the Old Market, the Dutch Quarter and the Brandenburger Straße shopping mile are within walking distance.

 

Directly at the tower of the Garrison Church there is “Le Petit Café” with indoor and outdoor seating. It offers small cold and warm dishes in the French style and a fine selection of cakes.

 

The tourist information at the Alter Markt and in the main station will be happy to help you plan your stay in Potsdam and arrange city tours and much more.

Our current opening times are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (April to October). Last entry at 5 p.m. or 4 p.m. on Sunday.

 

From November to March we are open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last entry at 5 p.m. or 4 p.m. on Sunday.

You can book tickets for the Garrison Church online or purchase them at the ticket office in the foyer. By purchasing your ticket you book a time slot. There may be waiting times when purchasing on site.

 

Tickets for groups can also be booked online. Groups of 10 or more receive reduced admission.

Single ticket adults: 12 euros

 

Single ticket reduced: 7 euros

 

Discount applies to: children aged 7 to 17, students, trainees, participants in a voluntary social, cultural or ecological year and federal voluntary service, People who receive transfer benefits (Bürgergeld, Sozialhilfe, Grundsicherung oder Leistungen nach dem Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz), severely disabled people from 50 percent, employees and members of the Bundeswehr. Children up to 6 years free.

 

Families: 25 euros (one or two adults with up to three children)

 

Visitors with Welcome Card: 9 euros

 

Groups of 10 people or more: 10 euros (per person)

 

Registration for events: 0 euros

The online ticket can be paid for by credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or Paypal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

 

You can pay in cash, by EC card or credit card (Visa, Mastercard) and by Apple Pay and Google Pay at the ticket office on site.

The “Potsdam Panorama” viewing platform is barrier-free accessible using the elevator. Alternatively, 365 steps lead to the top. The “Potsdam Panorama” closes 05.30 p.m..

 

The viewing platform is freely accessible during opening hours. If access is not possible due to exceptional weather conditions, guests will be informed at the entrance or by calling the visitor service (+49 331 9512 6800).

You can find out everything you need to know about your visit to the tower at the ticket office. Guided tours will be available from 2025.

The exhibition texts and information on site are available in German and English.

Photography and filming for private purposes is permitted in the tower of the Garrison Church Potsdam. Photo tripods and other additional technology and/or additional personnel are not permitted. Photography and filming in the context of editorial reporting and for commercial purposes is only permitted with prior agreement and written authorisation. You do not have to hand in jackets and bags during your visit to the tower. Larger bags may not be taken into the exhibition. There are some lockers available for this purpose.

Pushchairs may be used throughout the building.

Dogs and other pets are not permitted. Guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs are excepted.
