A complex and changeful history

The Garrison Church in Potsdam has an interesting history. For all those, who have never heard about it, see below for 3 key dates:

1730

CONSTRUCTION of the Garrison Church by order of King Friedrich Wilhelm I. of Prussia.

1968

DEMOLITION OF THE CHURCH by decree of Potsdam’s local SED leadership. The district’s computing centre is built on the vacant space.

2005

RECONSTRCUTION BEGINS – Laying the cornerstone as part of the memorial service for the 60th anniversary of the Potsdam air raid.
